2 year lab-iversary celebration outing!

The LeRoux lab turned 2 years old in September! We belatedly celebrated this milestone with a mysterious and silly escape room at “Adventures of Intrigue”. Several current rotation students joined in on the fun.

Several lab members (and collaborators!) attended the Midwest Microbial Pathogenesis meeting in Bloomington, Indiana this September! Pictured below is Michele with collaborator Dr. Courtney Reichhardt and her PhD student, Kristen Amyx-Sherer, who presented on a collaborative project about phage-biofilm interactions.

Board game night and farewell to Anna

We discovered the competitive among us at a lab board game night at our local board game bar, Pieces, where we wished our wonderful technician, Anna Johannesman, farewell. Anna will be starting her PhD in the MMMP program at WashU this fall. Good luck on this exciting next step, we will miss you!

Nico Carlson was awarded a summer BioSURF fellowship!

Congratulations to first year undergraduate Nico for an excellent research proposal that led to her receiving this competitive award! As a result, Nico will be able to delve into her phage defense research full time this summer.

The lab is awarded an NIAID New Innovators DP2 award!

July 2023

This five year award will fund our work on how phage defense pathways alter phage-bacterial specificity in the opportunistic pathogen P. aeruginosa! We will ultimately use this information to create phage with altered (expanded!) host range.

The lab is awarded a Washington University interdisciplinary seed grant!

This one year award will fund an exciting collaboration between our lab and the lab of Dr. Courtney Reichhardt to investigate phage-biofilm interactions at a mechanistic level.
